After completing my legal clerkship and gaining insights into various areas of law and work styles, it quickly became clear to me that I wanted to work at a commercial law firm specializing in corporate law. When choosing my future employer, it was particularly important to me to find a firm that would not only offer me, as a young professional, interesting and challenging tasks at a high professional level, but also create a pleasant, personable work environment with a strong team spirit. I wanted a workplace where I could quickly take on responsibility, with the opportunity to have direct client contact early on—and at the same time, I didn’t want to sacrifice my work-life balance.
After a year and seven months at honert, I can say that choosing honert was the right decision.
After just a short onboarding period, I was deeply involved in client work and had the opportunity early on to develop independent legal solutions and take on responsibility through direct communication with clients. This level of responsibility can sometimes be overwhelming for someone just starting their career. However, you’re not left to handle it alone. The firm always ensures that new professionals receive the support they need. Experienced colleagues are always willing to share their knowledge and offer support, so that you feel confident and can continually benefit from their expertise.
Particularly noteworthy is the exceptionally strong team spirit at honert, which characterizes the entire firm. Collaboration within the team is marked by mutual respect and a genuine willingness to support one another, which contributes to a very pleasant work environment. The opportunity for open communication with the partners and the active involvement of even inexperienced colleagues in client work create an atmosphere where you feel valued and supported. Even during demanding periods, care is taken to ensure that no one is left to fend for themselves. In addition to strong collaboration in day-to-day work, great importance is placed on team cohesion outside the office as well. At regular team events, people come together not only to work but also to get to know one another better and further strengthen team spirit.
However, working at a boutique firm like honert is not a “nine-to-five job.” Working hours are flexible and adapt to the current workload. During busy periods, the workday may sometimes run late. However, when things are quieter or client work is finished early, no one is expected to stay at the office unnecessarily.
