A team from honert provided comprehensive legal and tax advice to the shareholders of BALDUR-Garten GmbH on the sale of company shares to Paragon Partners.
BALDUR-Garten is a digital direct sales platform for garden plants and gardening supplies based in Bensheim. As the online market leader for plants in German-speaking countries, the company supplies over one million customers annually in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the Benelux countries. The product range comprises more than 1,500 items – from outdoor and indoor plants to gardening accessories – with a special focus on botanical rarities and novelties. At its Bensheim location, BALDUR employs over 500 people at peak times each year and stands for innovative, digital sales models in the gardening sector.
Paragon Partners was founded in 2004 and is one of Europe’s leading private equity firms. The company works closely with its portfolio companies to promote sustainable growth and operational excellence. Paragon’s diversified portfolio currently comprises twelve companies from various industries. Paragon was able to support a number of e-commerce forms in its organic and inorganic growth ambitions.
Paragon is headquartered in Munich and manages equity capital of over €2.4 billion.
Paragon will support BALDUR as a strategic sparring partner and investor in the implementation of its growth strategy, particularly with regard to further pan-European expansion and targeted acquisitions. Together with BALDUR’s experienced existing management team led by CEO Bernd Koch, the next chapter of growth will be actively and sustainably shaped.
