PRESS RELEASE
Munich, November 3, 2025
A team from honert, led by Dr. Kai-Klemens Wehlage, has supported empact GmbH in a financing round. As part of the financing round, empact will receive approx. EUR 100 million in growth financing.
The Cologne-based start-up empact has set itself the goal of driving forward the transformation of energy supply in buildings, thereby accelerating the path to a climate-neutral future. As a “one-stop shop for the path to climate neutrality”, empact develops individual energy concepts for real estate and supports owners, project developers, and investors in providing climate-neutral energy supply for entire buildings and neighbourhoods. The focus is on the rapid and comprehensive reduction of CO₂ emissions and the integration of renewable energies and charging infrastructure to make buildings fit for the future. In addition to consulting, empact also implements the measures. The company now employs around 100 people at its locations in Cologne, Berlin, and Munich.
The financing round was led by London-based investment company Sustainable Development Capital LLP (SDCL), accompanied by several family offices as existing investors.
The fresh capital will be used to further advance empact’s mission and make clean, resilient energy systems in buildings a reality. The goal is to effectively and purposefully advance climate neutrality in the building sector and to develop empact into the leading energy service provider for the decarbonization of buildings in Germany with engineering expertise, technology, and capital.
Many thanks also to the team of Perella Weinberg (London) in particular consisting of Kevin Kaiser and Martin Hilbig (M&A Advisor of empact GmbH) for the good cooperation
