Starting as an Attorney (m/f/d)
Job Description
At honert, you will work on complex matters in the areas of M&A, corporate law, commercial law, and tax law from the get-go. As an associate, you will take on responsibility early on, have direct client contact, and work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Regular in-house and external continuing education, personalized mentoring, and flat hierarchies will support you as you begin your career.

Our application process is designed to foster an open, personal exchange on equal footing. It typically consists of two rounds, during which you will meet as many partners and associates as possible. This will allow you to gain a comprehensive understanding of our office culture, our day-to-day work, and your career opportunities at honert.

Mentoring and personalized support
Each associate is paired with a dedicated mentor who provides regular feedback on progress and next steps in the training process. Complemented by semi-annual reviews, this ensures transparency and will at all times give you a clear sense of your progress.
Early responsibility
From day one, you will work in small, partner-led teams, gain hands-on experience, and interact directly with clients. Your role will expand over time, giving you the space to grow both as a professional and as an individual. Our goal is for you to become a trusted point of contact for clients early in your career.
Hands-on training and knowledge sharing
Your professional training will primarily involve “training on the job” and close collaboration with partners. By working on a variety of different projects, you will become familiar with working styles of different partners. After conclusion of a major project, the whole team discusses and reflects on the course of the project to promote continuous learning and improvement.
Continuing education
Several times a year, honert offers multi-day seminars at our offices led by external experts of speciality fields, such as accounting or M&A. These seminars are complemented by in-house one-day workshops on tax law or soft skills, as well as office- and practice-specific continuing education programs. Regular exchange across our offices is of special importance to us.
Personal development and coaching
Starting in your third year, we will provide targeted support for your development into a well-rounded legal professional with an entrepreneurial mindset—complemented, if you wish, by personalized external coaching.
Flexible, personalized training
Your personalized training program will include both in-house continuing education as well as external training events and board-certification courses—all aligned with your personal goals and needs.
Starting as a Law Clerk (m/f/d)
Job Description
Law clerks are an integral part of the honert team and are actively involved in day-to-day client work. They accompany experienced attorneys to client meetings and court hearings, participate in all in-house continuing education events, and benefit from regular feedback. Another major plus is the personal support you will receive: during your clerkship, we will provide targeted support for your professional development.
Mentoring
At honert, we foster a culture of open doors and communication on equal footing. At the same time, we see it as our responsibility to ensure that law clerks have dedicated, easily accessible points of contact for any questions or concerns. On your very first day, you will be assigned a mentor drawn from our associates, partners, and administrative team.
Training
Law clerks participate in our comprehensive training and continuing education program, alongside our junior associates. This program is built on three pillars: in-house training sessions, including our weekly lunch seminars; external training sessions, such as courses in accounting or legal English; and “learning on the job” (see also “Feedback” below). At the same time, we place strong emphasis on exam preparation and provide various types of support—for example, through training sessions for oral case presentations.
Feedback
At honert, client work is carried out in small teams, and law clerks are not assigned to a single partner. By working with multiple partners and associates at different levels of seniority, you will gain authentic insights into work at honert, while also learning from a variety of role models in the course of your day-to-day work. We place great importance on providing prompt, direct feedback on completed work. Regardless of the length of your placement, review meetings will be held on a regular basis—at the beginning, during, and at the end of your time with our firm.
Starting as a Research Assistant, Intern, or Student Worker (m/f/d)
Job Description
Whether as a research assistant, intern while pursuing a doctorate, or a student worker: At honert, you’ll have early opportunities to get actively involved. You’ll assist the team with legal opinions and research and gain authentic insights into how a specialized corporate law firm operates.

We continuously employ research assistants who support us in our day-to-day work between their first law state examination and the start of their federal law clerkship, or while they work on their dissertation.
