A team from honert consisting of Dr. Kai-Klemens Wehlage and Bastian Hosp has provided comprehensive legal advice to CedarDB GmbH on its seed financing round.

CedarDB has developed a new type of database technology that enables fast and flexible processing of a wide variety of data formats. The tech startup aims to provide companies and data scientists with a platform that allows relational, tabular, graph and document-based data to be used efficiently in a shared system. The solution enables consolidated data processing for business analyses, high-performance transactions and AI applications – with high efficiency and low operating costs. With this technology, CedarDB opens up new possibilities in the handling of data and positions itself as a pioneer of a new generation of database systems.

The financing round was led by Californian tech VC Amplify Partners, accompanied by a total of six angel investors, including Jordan Tigani (founder of the start-up Motherduck), Hanno Renner (founder and CEO of Personio) and Wes McKinney (founder and partner at VC Composed Ventures).

CedarDB intends to use the fresh capital primarily to acquire new customers and further expand its market access. Particular attention will be paid to the US market, to which the startup’s investors have already established initial contacts. So far, the company has been able to gain initial experience with pilot customers. In the future, the fintech sector in particular is to be addressed more strongly, as the product offers potential for applications at banks or stock exchanges, for example – the aim is to acquire well-known customers and establish itself as a reliable provider of database solutions.
