honert advises Pheno-Inspect GmbH on seed financing round

A team from honert consisting of Patrick Spalek and Dr. Thomas Grädler provided comprehensive legal advice to Pheno-Inspect GmbH on its seed financing round.

Pheno-Inspect GmbH is an agricultural AI company based in North Rhine-Westphalia, with headquarters in Mülheim an der Ruhr and a location in Düsseldorf. The company was founded in 2020 at the University of Bonn in the PhenoRob Cluster of Excellence and develops AI-based software for the automated analysis of high-resolution drone images in agriculture. Using a cloud-based platform, the AgTech startup converts image data into reliable agronomic insights and enables economically scalable, data-driven decisions in crop production. Farmers, agricultural companies, and research institutions can use this technology to analyze plant development, stress factors, and treatment effects efficiently, objectively, and on a large scale – without specialized hardware or external service providers. The application increases the precision and efficiency of digital agronomy and supports the optimisation of yields and the scaling of complex field trials.

In addition to NRW.BANK and several private investors via the Companisto business angel network, the CLAAS Group, one of the world’s leading agricultural machinery manufacturers, also participated in the financing round as a strategic investor.

The fresh capital will be used to build a scalable platform for the European market and to continuously expand AI-based analysis modules. The focus is on applications for stock density determination, weed detection, and decision support in crop production. Pheno-Inspect will also use the investment to further strengthen its interdisciplinary team and consistently develop its AI technology.
