Joining honert as a young professional
The decision to work as a lawyer in the field of M&A / corporate law matured during my legal clerkship. During my legal internship and subsequent work as a research assistant, I gained different experiences working in large law firms. On the one hand, I enjoyed the substantive work and basically liked the environment. On the other hand, I got the impression that young lawyers in particular were hardly involved in the actual work on the client. When I started my career, I was looking for a firm where I, as a young lawyer, would be given responsibility at an early stage. At the same time, I wanted to be part of a dedicated team of lawyers in which I would be challenged and encouraged and where I could gradually grow and develop my skills. After some research, I applied to honert and was invited for an interview. Then suddenly everything went pretty fast…
Now, after one year of working as a professional, I can say that the work at honert has more than fulfilled my expectations that I had back then. Even after a short familiarization period, direct client support is on the agenda for young professionals. However, the fact that I am responsible for things on my own as a young lawyer does not mean that I am left alone with them. Thanks to the close team ties and the “open door policy” that is actually practiced here (in times of pandemic in the form of digital open doors), young lawyers always have the opportunity to ask experienced colleagues for advice. Numerous opportunities for continuing education add to the law firm’s profile. Of course, working in a boutique is not a “nine-to-five job” either. Working hours are very flexible, depending on the workload. Sometimes it can also be late. When the day’s work is done, or things are a little quieter between projects, no one requires you to be at the office just to be present. In addition to the work in the office, everyone also has a private life, which is respected by everyone.
