Successful Together
Careers at honert
Team spirit cannot be dictated, it must grow on its own, ideally in an open-minded and constructive employment. Exchanging information and benefiting from one another is what we do every day, as is promoting personal initiative, personal responsibility, and continued professional growth of our attorneys.
A positive attitude toward work, enjoyment of work, and the right balance between work and personal life are, in our opinion, basic requirements for a successful career as an attorney. Our work is often project-based, i.e., there are times when our workload is heavy. As service providers we accept this challenge. Because all of us also have lives outside of work, we also take plenty of time for our families, friends, sports and hobbies. Going to hockey or soccer practice in the evening, going to see a movie with friends, or spending time with family are not exceptions at our firm, but rather the general rule. For in our opinion, an attorney can be successful in the long term and provide outstanding services to clients only if the right balance between work and personal life is achieved. To us, it is important not only that our attorneys are experts in their fields, but also that they have charisma and earn the loyalty of clients.
Training program
Starting on your first day at our firm, you will work on actual matters on a daily basis. You will be part of small, partner-managed and project-based teams. Starting on the first day, you will gain hands-on experience and have direct contact with clients. Step-by-step, we will give you more responsibility, allowing you to keep growing over time. Our goal is for our clients to perceive and accept you as a contact partner of equal standing.
Along the way, you will receive training that is tailored to your specific needs. The foundation will be on-the-job training. By working on matters closely with the partner managing the case, you will gain new legal know-how and hone your legal skills. However, you will not work for just one partner. Because you will be assigned to partners on a project basis, you will get to work with all partners of the firm.
After major projects have been completed, we get together with the team and discuss the project: What went well? How could we improve? What, if anything, should we do differently next time?
Training and continuing education, both inside and outside the firm, are very important to us. On a semi-annual basis we hold seminars, including multi-day seminars, led by outside experts, for example on accounting or M&A topics. Seminar locations alternate between our two offices. In addition, we organize – again at both office locations – internal day-long seminars, e.g., on tax law topics, or, in cooperation with allied specialized law firms, on topics which fall outside the scope of our own expertise, but which in practice come up time and again (e.g., antitrust law). In addition, there are location-specific and practice area-specific training components. Aside from the educational aspects, getting to know and talking with colleagues at the other office location play an important role. As part of your mutually agreed personal training program, we will also enable you to attend outside continuing education events and we will support your enrollment in appropriate board-certification programs for attorneys.

We offer you an attractive compensation package commensurate to your work load and an open-minded, collegial work environment. We spend a lot of time together. To us and our staff, it is therefore important that we enjoy our work and create a work environment in which the whole team feels comfortable. Our goal is for our associates to develop into future partners of our firm. However, consistent with our philosophy, we are also open to alternative career paths because we are convinced that a positive attitude toward work, enjoyment of work, and the right balance between work and personal life are basic requirements for successful cooperation.
